After I made this about three months ago: I was trying to think of ways to make it look more attractive. What I decided I wanted to do was have the shiny letters on a black background. .25″ aluminum stock: Just milled out initials similar to how I did before. About .1″ deep and both [...]
Not actually a CNC product, but something I’ve been working on. Wanted to make a lightbox to accomodate 11×17″ drawing. Picked up 3 flourescent lights, striped them down, and mocked up an enclosure using some pieces of wood to see how it would look. Used a sheet of plexiglass instead of glass for testing, since [...]
Goal was to make a picture frame as a gift for someone. Roughing out the front of the picture frame and the hole for the picture: More roughing: Finished the front and dropped it out of the surrounding metal: Evidently didn’t take any pictures of the back of the frame being done, but just put [...]
A birthday-present project: These are quarter sized…I made two so that it could be decided later whether they would be earrings or a pendant: I accidentally used the NC file for the 1/32nd bit with the 1/16th bit, so I stopped it partway through. It looked coolish still, though unusable as a stencil, so I [...]
No big projects really, but some miscellaneous stuff I’ve been working on: Made a mini-frisbee out of like ~4.5″ aluminum roundstock. Carved out the bottom first: Cutting the top: Smoothing…: I made the mistake of trying to generate the code to engrave the text onto the top while it was running…Mach3 rewarded me by putting [...]
One of my friends entertains himself by upgrading his cousin’s Power Wheels car to be a little, okay a lot, faster: Apparently the next upgrade on the list is to go from the current 18V to 24V, for which it is apparently recommended that the motors have heatsinks. As you can see, they are currently [...]
Had a request from the Baja team to help make some spacer plates, so they gave me a bunch of stock and some models. 1/2″ aluminum stock Milling smallest of the plates: Starting on second plate: They ended up deciding that they needed the plates sooner than I could finish them, so I just milled [...]
The Formula needed spacers to allow them to attach their old-style rain tire wheels with the current setup. They lathed the stock to the right diameter and thickness, so all I had to worry about was punching holes in it. They also put a hole through the center so that I could easily center up. [...]
Cutting some plastic stock down to size: Drilling holes for the 10mm LEDs: Rough cut not shown, but I did the initial passes with a 3/8ths inch endmill and went back to do the cleanup with an 1/8th inch ballnose, shown: Front side done: Roughed the back into a recess for the components and board: [...]
Stock: Cut piece out and put holes in it for fixturing: Cut piece of aluminum to mate with the holes in PCB: Fit nicely Did traces on side A: Drilled holes while on side A: Milled side B: The two sides, done. The new fixturing solved the offset problem after the flip. The holes are [...]
